"I first tested pouncing panthers as a single parent who also had significant health issues which impacted what I could do with the boys during school holidays. I felt bad that they were missing out on activities like going to the beach, playing in the park, and exploring. We had tried other holiday clubs, especially for Oliver, but found they just didn't fit. Pouncing panthers have always accepted Oliver and James for who they are and celebrated them completely. Due to my own personal challenges, trusting people with my children was a huge step. But I always picked them up with positive reports from both Pouncing panthers and Oliver and James. The huge variety and flexible options for activities really appealed to both of them, there was never any forced activities.
Over the years pouncing panthers have allowed me respite, opportunities for James and Oliver to just be kids rather than young carers, a break from each other, and to allow me in recent years to provide care for my grandparents during the school holidays. Knowing they were booked in even just a couple of days helped with the overwhelm of many weeks trying to fill the days. Oliver certainly has found comfort knowing that his time is structured and he has a plan.
All the staff at pouncing panthers are incredible, and a true credit to you and your recruitment process. You work with all the children's strengths, and provide an accessible service. There was never a moment, especially when James was using a wheelchair, that James was going to be excluded from activities like the beach trips. A real sign was that they always asked to be booked and were excited to go!
